Christmas in February
This weekend we visited Tray's mom and dad and we ended up going out to eat Saturday evening. On the way to the restaurant, apropos of nothing, Penny started saying, "Merry Christmas!" Then, this evening while she and I were on our way home from the grocery store she started saying, "jingle bells." She did it again in the bath tonight and Tray started singing Jingle Bell Rock to her, but that didn't seem to be it. I sang the regular version and she attempted to repeat me. I think she must have had the original Jingle Bell song in her head. But why? Is Christmas just now catching up to her? This is the sort of thing that I am sure if she was in daycare that I would say, "oh, she must have picked that up at daycare." But no. She's just weird all on her own. :)

I have heard the brain and memories compared to a rolodex, with entries prioritized. So maybe, for Penny, learning the names of colors and other things was on the top cards. As each card's entry is met it rolls down so that the next is topmost. I guess Christmas things have just now come to the top. I think we all think of things out of context and at "weird" times, so she is just weird like the rest of us or maybe I should say like Nana. Anyway, love to all.
