I have been trying to update this blog more regularly because I know my mom for one really enjoys the updates. Sometimes I feel like I write about really silly things though, so I apologize. However, today's post is no different. The news I have to report is that yesterday Penny attempted to "get" my toes with a ziploc bag. She kept taking the bag and gently laying the edge of it on my toes. She did this two or three times before I realized what she was doing. So I started pretending to scream and pull my foot away. (As an aside, she has a ziploc bag that she is allowed to play with. She likes to open the kitchen drawer with all that stuff in it, so I have reserved her a particular bag that she can pull out of the drawer and every night I put it back in the drawer so she always pulls the same one out again the next day) Tonight I tried to get her to get her Daddy's toes with it, but she was too scared to. She wanted to, but she was afraid he would get her with his toes so she wouldn't. When I was reading her books tonight though she suddenly grabbed my toes and fake-screamed herself which was just really funny.
Let's see, what else? She is barking and meowing now and will also kinda sorta say moo. Tray asked her, "what does Mommy say?" and she "rawred" like a dinosaur, which Tray found endlessly amusing. She is saying ball and turtle and today's big word is "baby". She must have said that a hundred times today. She's just getting so verbal. Tonight when I was putting her to sleep she just talked and talked - about who knows what. It's funny how much she tries to copy what I say too. I can get her on a kick where I just say words to her and she tries to repeat them. I can say a really far out big word and she'll mumble something back with roughly the same number of syllables. She might not be able to repeat the word, but she'll repeat the cadence and intonation.
Yesterday was her 14 month birthday, so I am going to try to list all her words before the list gets too long:
Mama
Dada
baby
gigi (this was her word for baby, and is also the name of her baby doll)
turtle
towel
D! (Lindy)
Jake
Bop (may mean either the boppy pillow or her hat)
shoes
tree
cat
duck
fish
bow wow wow
meow
moo
baa (sometimes)
rwar
okay
up
down
itch
cup
truck (sometimes)
milk (sign language)
kick
ball
eight (no other numbers, just eight)
night-night
I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now. She understands way more than she can say. The nicest thing that she understands though is "love" - if we ask her if she loves us she'll give us a hug and her mmmm kiss sound.
