Friends

There is a little girl at Penny's gymnastics class (I'll call her "A") that Penny really likes. She always asks ahead of time if A is going to be there, and once we are there she always wants to go and do whatever it is that A is doing. The only problem? A is incredibly, horribly shy. Whenever I take Penny over to A and her mom, A hides behinds her mom's leg and/or cries. It's very ironic considering I figured it would be Penny who was the shy one in any relationship. Anyway, last night Penny got A to play ball with her. They rolled a large ball between the two of them (with lots of motherly encouragement on both sides) for several minutes. I'd love to parlay this into a playdate for Penny some other time outside of gymnastics, but A's mom works all day and she also has a 6 year old daughter, so I'm not sure she'll be interested. But, maybe if she's as relieved as I think she is that A is actually playing with somebody else besides her older sister maybe she'd be interested in keeping it up. *fingers crossed*
