While we were at Cheaha, Tray took Penny to play at the playground at the lake while I hiked down to the lake from the cabins on top of the mountain. When I got down to the bottom, they met me at the creek, and Penny had a ball throwing rocks into the water. It has taken Penny a long time to do things that get her hands dirty, like picking up rocks. The fact that she can brush them off after each rock like this rather than immediately freaking out asking me to clean them for her is an accomplishment. I think we were maybe overzealous when she was a baby trying to keep her from getting her hands dirty when she was eating, and she was so impressionable that she has so far hated getting her hands dirty in any situation. Oh well, I'm glad she's growing out of it. (See: archaeology).
